Joined the site in July 2016. My photos are taken mostly in remote and beautiful rural North Devon and Cornwall in SW England, UK. Inspiration comes from the area's breathtakingly rugged coast and its wild, windswept moors, landscapes with thousands of years of human occupation. These places have their own magical atmosphere and are often difficult to access, overgrown and fragile, some crumbling away and disappearing forever. I hope that recording such surviving fragments of our rich and varied heritage will help document these places and be of interest or new to viewers. Hopefully it will also leave a few images for posterity! My images are mostly spontaneous, sometimes taken in more remote places or perhaps are taken from unusual viewpoints. I like to understand the history of the places I visit and will research them and hopefully describe what I have captured by pooling the information I have found from various sources. To me, this is all part of the enjoyment of finding and photographing these places. I try to recreate a feeling or atmosphere in my shots... possibly of how I felt when I was there or what I want to convey. Sometimes this will involve some post processing of images. Occasionally, other random subjects will be included to mix things up. Where possible. Similar subjects or themes of images are grouped together in my albums. If my shots hold your attention, inform you, lift your spirit, make you ask questions, make you smile or even fire your imagination and make you want to explore then it is more than enough reward.... although you are welcome to buy prints too! ;o) Thank you for all your wonderful comments, likes and shares.
