The Golden Lion, Todmorden
6 Views
13th January 2024
The Golden Lion built in 1770 has been a mainstay of life in Todmorden since. The building extended and added to many times has staged many town meetings leading to important decisions including the decisions to erect the Town Hall and Stoodley Pike Monument, the towns first post office was housed here, it was once the scene of inquests and used to be a staging post on the Manchester to Halifax coach route that operated on Tuesdays and Fridays from the 1760's onwards. I took this picture from the Rochdale Canal Wharf looking towards the pub on the 6th January 2024 with a Nikon D3300. www.colingreenphotography.co.uk
