Anchor Pit Junction Bridge Abutment, Brighouse

28th May 2023
This abutment was once the start of the bridge over the River Calder that carried the Pickle Bridge Railway Line in the direction of Bradford to the east of Brighouse, West Yorkshire. The line closed in 1952 and the crossing here was demolished some time after 1966. The line once provided a direct route between Bradford, Huddersfield and beyond and perhaps should be considered for reopening now due to trains having to pass through Halifax Station and the busy Calder Valley line to connect the 2 places now. I took this picture on the 27th May 2023 with a Nikon d3300. www.colingreenphotography.co.uk
