29th October 2024
Halifax Railway Station moved to it's current location on the 7th August 1850 from the previous terminus at Shaw Syke, this was due to the new line connecting with Bradford opening. The station featured temporary buildings before permanent buildings were completed and opened in June 1855. A much bigger station in it's heyday featuring several platform it now only has 2 served by an island platform reached by an over bridge. There are plans to refurbish the station at a cost of over £30million which will see improved access and facilities. I took this picture in May 2018 with a Nikon d3300 and it shows the building built in 1855 that used to be part of the station but has in recent years been used by Eureka Children's museum, this building and adjacent platform may be brought back in to use. www.colingreenphotography.co.uk
