Rooftops of Todmorden and the Town Hall
9 Views
29th October 2024
Todmorden Town Hall was opened in 1875 by architect John Gibson and built in a neoclassical style. The building straddles Walsden Water, the historic boundary between Lancashire and Yorkshire until the boundary was moved in January 1888. The building is Grade I Listed and still used for town council meetings, there is also a ballroom where for a time it was possible to start a dance in Yorkshire and finish it in Lancashire because of its administrative position. Stoodley Pike Monument can be seen on the hill in the distance. www.colingreenphotography.co.uk
