Taken in October 2017 whilst walking a stretch of the former Stainland Branch Line from Clay House Bridge to Rawroyds Viaduct.
The Stainland Branch Line opened on the 1st January 1875 and was built by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. It ran for approx 1.6 miles to it's terminus at Holywell Green Station passing through 2 stations at Rochdale Road and West Vale on route. The line continued to operate until closure in 1959, with the track uplifted in 1962. Most of the line is now a pedestrian - cycle route including West Vale Viaduct, although Rawroyds Viaduct is now inaccessible. www.colingreenphotography.co.uk
