Croydon Aerodrome World War 2 Battle of Britain Memorial

29th October 2024
Croydon Airport was for a time Britain's biggest airport and was given over to the RAF during World War 2. After the war it was returned to public use but closed in 1959 after being overtaken by Heathrow as London's main airport and Gatwick opening the year before. The World War 2 Battle of Britain Memorial can be found to the south of the airports entrance. I took this in June 2015 with a Polaroid is2132. www.colingreenphotography.co.uk
