Copley Bench Arches

These arches used to provide a delivery point for coal barges to deliver coal to waiting horses and carts, the arches used to go further back underneath a funnel type area from above that allowed the coal to drop down. They were bricked up and converted to a seating area in the late 1980's. They can be found at the side of the Calder and Hebble Navigation canal at Copley, West Yorkshire. I took the picture in
