Strines Aqauduct and Cutting Flooded
22 Views
29th October 2024
Taken in December 2015 whilst i was out having a look for the Queensbury Tunnel having become aware of the campaign to reopen it as a cycle route. 7 years later and this campaign is still ongoing and still not looking like it will succeed. The Queensbury Tunnel and Lines connecting Keighley with Bradford and Halifax were closed in the 1950's, a sad loss as they would no doubt bill widely used now. Strines Aqauduct used to cross over the Strines Cutting, which was approx 60 feet deep. Infilled in recent years it has caused the beck that flows over the aqauduct to flood the remains of the cutting underneath. www.colingreenphotography.co.uk
