Square Chapel, Halifax

The Square Independent Chapel opened on the 24th May 1772 in an the area of Halifxa Known as the Square. Used as a church until 1857, it then became the Sunday School for Square Congregational Church which opened nearby. The building fell in to great disrepair by the mid 1980's and now owned by Calderdale Council attempts were made to demolish it. These plans were foiled and in 1989 the Square Chapel Building trust acquired the chapel and set about restoring it, reopening in the early 1990's. www.colingreenphotography.co.uk
