29th October 2024
The Halifax High Level Railway was a short lived passenger and freight railway serving the north western area of the town. Originally planned as a much bigger enterprise that was planned to connect with Huddersfield and beyond only a short section was completed from Holmfield to Halifax St Paul's Station at King Cross. The line closed to passengers during World War 1 and freight in 1960. Quite a lot of the infrastructure remains including the impressive Wheatley Viaduct and tunnel with small sections having been built on at Ovenden and King Cross. www.colingreenphotography.co.uk
