Former Control Room in the Remains of Operation Starfish Bunker Entrance, Sowerby

Operation Starfish was a World War 2 plan to confuse German bombers in to dropping their payloads in the wrong area. The site above Sowerby still has the bunker standing but nothing much else remains as a nobs to the sites original purpose. It was built for as a decoy for the railway yard at Greetland, railway junctions at Rochdale and Todmorden and as a decoy for Manchester. More on my blog at www.colingreenphotography.co.uk
