Milk Churn Joan is a stone erected to mark the historic local boundaries of Hebden Royd, Sowerby and Wadsworth, West Yorkshire.
The stone has a couple of legends attributed to it including the most popular one of Churn Milk Joan of which it takes it's name. It is said that the stone is supposed to be the spot where Joan froze to death during a blizzard between Luddenden and Pecket Well.
Another tale says the stone spins 3 times on New Years Eve when the bells of St Michael's Church, Mytholmroyd can be heard. I took the picture with a Nikon d3300 in April 2021. www.colingreenphotography.co.uk
