5th November 2022
Square Congregational Church was opened in July 1857 and remained in use until 1970 when the building was closed. In January 1971 fire destroyed most of the main church building which was demolished in 1976 only the footprint and spire remaining of the building. The spire is one of the highest in the county of West Yorkshire. In the early 2000's there were reports of workmen having pictured a ghost in the top of the spire, this was reported in much of the local press. The spire and grounds of the church are now part of the Halifax Central Library Building. www.colingreenphotography.co.uk www.colingreenphotography.co.uk
